One of our particular skill sets relevant in the fire-prone American River Canyon is our proven abilities helping our clients successfully maximize their insurance benefits. Insurance company software doesn’t account for the many nuances of building in the mountain environment. We anticipate this and are able to negotiate with adjustors from an informed and knowledgeable position. We have multiple clients that lost their home or cabin in the Caldor fire of 2021 and take special pride in the re-building process. Our business and personal lives were deeply affected by the fire, so we have a sympathetic understanding. We also have a large amount of experience in repairing storm-damage, both big and small. Our willingness to advocate with insurance companies on your behalf has resulted in numerous maximum claim payments.
We have a long track record of Forest Service Cabin projects and are skilled at navigating the complex process. Likewise, we have extensive knowledge of the El Dorado County Building Department and Planning Department permit process and can assure you that permits are easier to obtain when you know the people and their process.
We do custom House Hardening for wildfire resiliency which may include metal roofing, Hardie cement siding, boxing and sealing eaves and porches and window replacement. We install Backup generators, solar, battery backup and can help you attain energy independence.

About Mark Bird
Mark got his contractor’s license in 2007 and has more than 20 years of experience in building. He lives in the American River Canyon in Kyburz with his wife and son where he has an extensive woodshop.
Woodworking is a passion and Mark spends some of his free time in the shop designing and building various projects including furniture, picture frames, and kitchen utensils for personal use. He especially enjoys sharing the craft with his son and developing projects together.
Prior to entering the building trade, he spent his youth in kitchens and held an executive chef position for several years in Placerville. He cooks for his family on a regular basis and designed a kitchen that works perfectly for their needs. Mark loves making a complex curry and trying out new recipes and is especially good at meaty stews and pasta.
When he is not in the woodshop or the kitchen, he loves to fish the Silverfork River with his son and relax by the river or the fire with his wife.
Insurance Claims
One of Mark’s particular skills was born out of personal disaster. After his home burned in an electrical fire in 2010, Mark quickly learned how to negotiate the insurance nightmare and get full value from his policy. He has since worked with many clients to successfully maximize their insurance benefits.
